NATHANAEL FAREED MAHLULI

Nathanael Fareed Mahluli is one of the most diverse talents in the field of black music. Having been schooled in music at Northwestern University, Berklee College of Music, Florida State University and the oral traditions of Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago, Mahluli has impacted and absorbed with powerful expression. The Chicago Tribune called his saxophone playing "...soul stirring." Atlanta's Creative Loafing acknowledged, "... a new sheriff's in town", during his two year stint leading the Mahluli Workshop on Wednesday nights at Atlanta's premier jazz club, Churchill Grounds. Wherever he has traveled, Mahluli has made his presence felt vocally and instrumentally. In addition to being a freelance artist and teaching on the collegiate level, he has taught K-12 and devotes considerable energy to bringing music to the youth. His performances in Tallahassee, FL, served over 10,000 students in two years as he completed his Master's degree. He has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and BET and performed or recorded with Oscar Brown, Jr., Donald Byrd, Mikey Roker, Liz Wright, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Reginald Veal, Vincent Gardner, Carl Allen, Orrin Evans, Duane Eubanks, Gary Motley, Jeff Bradshaw, Doc Gibbs, James Poyser, Louis Taylor, Jr., Ted Thomas, Ralph Peterson, Darryl Jones, Victor Gaskins, and Russell Gunn.
